PETG is the perfect compromise between PLA and ABS: solid mechanical strength, PLA-like print ease, UV and moisture resistance, no fumes. Our default at the atelier for any functional part.

Pour quels projets choisir le PETG ?
PETG is our default as soon as a part is meant to do something: support, fastener, workshop jig, case, bottle, motorcycle accessory, daily replacement part. PLA-like print ease with much higher impact and heat tolerance (up to 75 °C continuous).
For transparent or translucent parts, PETG is the FDM go-to (light covers, diffusers, displays).
For moderately UV-exposed outdoor parts (balcony furniture, bike accessory, signage), PETG holds up for years. For intense exposure (south-facing roof), go ASA.

Limites du PETG
Above 75-80 °C, PETG softens: not for under-hood, near heat sources, or in summer cars. Use ABS, ASA, Nylon or PC.
For parts taking repeated impacts (gear, hinge in constant motion), Nylon is better. PETG handles occasional shocks but fatigues over time.
PETG sometimes sticks too well to supports: textured PEI bed is ideal, tune retraction if you see stringing.

Alternatives au PETG selon votre usage
Questions fréquentes sur le PETG
Quality PETG (no questionable colorants) is food-contact compatible — same material as water bottles. But FDM micro-layers trap bacteria: for repeated use, food-safe epoxy coating or molded product.
